Dissecting the cannabis plant
The cannabis plant has two sexes namely male and female. The medicinal part of cannabis comes from the female plant and is harvested from the flower, also called bud. It is important to note that the leaves, seed, and roots does not contain CBD/cannabis oil components.
When cannabis is grown for CBD oil, it is key to make sure your flower does not yield seeds as this lowers your overall bud yield. Seeds are generally only produced to make hemp seed oil which is not the same as CBD oil.
Upon closer inspection on the flower, one can notice what looks like dew drops. These are called trichomes and they are a blanket of resin covering the cannabis plant, containing two categories of chemical terpenes and cannabinoids. Terpenes are the essential oils in the plant that give a distinct flavour and can help with other ailments much like herbs eg. Lavender. Cannabinoids are the chemicals of the plant that has the medicinal benefits. The two well-known cannabinoids are THC and CBD. THC is known to be psychoactive and cause the high where CBD does not. CBD also works against the high of THC thus if you have a very low amount of THC and a high amount of CBD, you can get the benefits of both without getting high.
THC has its own medicinal benefits medicine. It is very important for pain relief and ailments like nausea and sleep and appetite while CBD is more anti-inflammatory and for mood and behaviour for problems like anxiety, depression, and stress. It is also important to remember that there are derivatives from THC and CBD.
It turns out we already have cannabinoid receptors distributed throughout our body. The two main receptors that bind with the molecular compounds in cannabis are called the CB1 Receptor and CB2 Receptor.
CB1 receptors are mainly located in the brain and central nervous system. They can also be found in organs such as the lungs and liver. CB2 receptors are concentrated in the organs relating to the immune system.

As previously mentioned, CBD and THC have different derivatives. The combination between these cannabinoids is what makes the dose effective on certain conditions.

For conditions such as Alzheimer’s or Cancers it is important to raher have a high CBG, THCa and THCv content cannabis oil.
